The People´s Deputies; Yu.Prodan, Minister of Fuel and Energy; O.Kucherenko, Minister in charge of Housing and Communal Economy; O.Dubyna, Head of Naftohaz National Oil and Natural Gas Company; the representatives of the President´s Secretariat, the Council of National Security and Defence, and the ministries; leading scientists and experts in the issues of energy safety attended the hearings.
The issue of energy safety is of vital importance for supporting State´s international image, and the competitive capacity of Ukrainian economy.
The Committee Chairman expressed his worry that debts of economic entities are paid off at the expense of the State budget, and that gas wells in Ukraine will be suspended in the nearest time. The said facts will negatively influence the entire scheme of energy resources supply.
A.Kinakh stated that the Energy Strategy of Ukraine is being elaborated.
The participants of the hearings expressed their opinion on the issues that influence energy safety. They introduced motions concerning introduction of energy-saving technologies, and transition of consumers to alternative types of gas supply. The participants also deem necessary to use international experience regarding the issues of energy saving.
The Committee will summarize introduced motions and use them whilst elaborating relevant guidelines.
